Here’s everything you need to know about using the Packing Pilot effectively.
How to Access the Packing Pilot
The Packing Pilot can be accessed from the Operations Page:
Go to OTO PACK > Operations > Packing.
Click on the Packing Pilot button.
Once you’re in, you’re ready to start optimizing your packing process.
Using the Packing Pilot: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Select a Warehouse (Mandatory)
Begin by selecting the warehouse where packing will take place. This step ensures that all actions are tied to the correct location.
Step 2: Apply Filters (Optional)
Use filters to narrow down your orders:
Packing Station: Filter orders by packing station (available with Bin Tracking enabled).
Wave ID: Filter orders by wave (available with Bin Tracking enabled).
Filtering helps you quickly locate orders relevant to your current task.
Step 3: Scan Items (Optional)
Scanner Compatible: Packing Pilot is fully compatible with scanners, making the process faster and more accurate.
Use the scanning feature to locate orders containing specific items:
Scan an item manually or with a scanner, and the system will display all orders that include the scanned SKU(s).
Match Rate Calculation:
The system calculates how much of the scanned item matches the order’s total quantity: Match Rate = Quantity Scanned ÷ Total Quantity in the Order
Example: If you scan an SKU twice and an order requires five units of that SKU, the match rate will be 2/5 = 40%.
Step 4: Select an Order
After filtering or scanning, choose the order by pressing Select Order you want to pack from the displayed list.
Use details like Match Rate and Status to confirm your selection.
Step 5: Open the Packing Form
Once an order is selected, the Packing Form opens automatically.
Follow these steps to complete packing:
Scan the items in the order.
Create a shipment if it hasn’t been created yet.
Scan the AWB (shipment barcode).
Confirm the packing to finalize the process.
Why Use the Packing Pilot?
The Packing Pilot offers three significant advantages:
Better Filtration
Use a combination of filters like warehouse, packing station, or wave ID for precise order selection.
Scanning items narrows down the list, making it easier to identify and process relevant orders.
Segregation
Perfect for waves containing multiple orders, the Packing Pilot helps separate items into their respective orders accurately and efficiently.
Paperless Warehouse Management
Eliminate the need for pre-printing documents. Filter by wave or SKU, and the Packing Pilot will show all related orders directly in the system.
Pro Tips for Using the Packing Pilot
Leverage Scanner Compatibility:
Scanning items with a scanner ensures faster and more accurate results, especially for larger waves.
Segregation Made Easy:
The Packing Pilot shines when used with waves containing Single Item Orders. Simply scan items one by one, select orders with a 100% match rate, and pack them by creating shipments.
Filter Smartly:
Combine filters like warehouse and wave ID to narrow down orders quickly. This saves time, especially when dealing with large waves.
Speed Up Large Waves:
Scanning items first can reduce the visible list, helping you focus only on orders containing the scanned SKUs. This makes selecting and packing orders much faster.
Conclusion
The Packing Pilot is designed to make packing smarter, faster, and more accurate. Its scanner compatibility, combined with advanced filtering and order segregation capabilities, ensures a seamless and efficient packing process. Whether you’re handling single orders or large waves, the Packing Pilot is your key to boosting productivity while keeping everything paperless and organized.
