Introduction
Picker Assignment Automation is a feature in OTO PACK Advanced that simplifies the process of assigning pickers to orders or waves. By configuring settings in the Warehouse Form/OTO PACK Settings, you can ensure that orders and waves are automatically routed to the designated picker team. This feature is available both with and without Bin Tracking, offering flexibility and efficiency for different warehouse setups.
How Picker Assignment Automation Works
Configuration Setup
Navigate to the Warehouse Form and access the OTO PACK Settings tab.
Enable the Auto Picker Team Assignment toggle.
Select the Picker Team to be assigned for this warehouse.
Save the configuration.
Now, the warehouse is ready to automate picker assignments for orders and waves.
When Bin Tracking is Disabled
Direct Assignment:
When an order is assigned to this specific warehouse, the configured picker team is automatically assigned to the order.
The order immediately moves to the Picker Team Pool, ready to be processed by any available picker using the OTO PACK Mobile App.
When Bin Tracking is Enabled
Wave Creation Required:
Orders assigned to the warehouse first enter the system as unprocessed until a wave is created.
Once a wave is created, the system automatically assigns the wave to the configured picker team.
The wave then moves to the Picker Team Pool, where pickers can select it for processing using the OTO PACK Mobile App.
Pool-Based Workflow
Orders and waves are sent to the Picker Team Pool, ensuring a fair distribution of tasks.
Dynamic Task Allocation:
Pickers using the OTO PACK Mobile App can pull new orders or waves from the pool whenever they are ready for their next task.
This ensures tasks are distributed in real-time based on picker availability.
Advantages of Picker Assignment Automation
Reduced Manual Effort: Automates the picker assignment process, saving time and effort for warehouse managers.
Efficient Task Distribution: Ensures tasks are dynamically allocated based on picker availability.
Flexible for All Setups: Works seamlessly with or without Bin Tracking, making it suitable for diverse warehouse layouts and operations.
Improved Accuracy: Assigning tasks to the right team ensures that orders are picked efficiently, reducing errors.
Best Practices
Team Configuration: Ensure the picker teams are well-defined and trained for the warehouse layout and workflow.
Monitor the Pool: Regularly monitor the pool for unprocessed orders or waves to avoid delays.
Test Before Launch: Run test scenarios with Picker Assignment Automation enabled to ensure smooth operation.
Summary
Picker Assignment Automation in OTO PACK Advanced simplifies the allocation of tasks to picker teams. Whether you're running a warehouse with or without Bin Tracking, this feature ensures that orders and waves are dynamically routed to the right teams, improving efficiency and accuracy in your warehouse operations. By leveraging this automation, your warehouse can achieve faster fulfillment times and better resource utilization.
